Those old enough to remember the original will likely be disappointed. Yoshis New Island is a game built around its level design and aesthetics, so separating the actions from the core adventure only highlights how clumsy the game feels. Looking like a cartoon for toddlers along with its opportunity for slow exploration, suggests this would have been better aimed at the very young as a "My First Mario". Yoshis Story was an abomination, and does anyone even remember Yoshis Island DS For whatever reason, Yoshis Island was truly a product of its time, and that remains the case with Nintendos latest effort, Yoshis New Island on 3DS. Unfortunately, the platforming takes simplicity too far, and the only difficulty comes from enemies that are more annoying than challenging, that frustration emphasised by the screams Mario lets loose any time he is dislodged. The hand-drawn aesthetic suggests sweet simplicity, which is backed up by the cute Yoshi sounds and the pleasure of watching them trail a line of eggs. On top of the usual platforming skills, the Yoshis can also swallow enemies and turn them into eggs which can then be used as projectiles. Taking turns, each carries Mario on its back through one level. In this prequel story, a baby Mario wants to find his brother Luigi but is helpless to do so without the help of the Yoshis. Like the Mario games, these are platformers, but rather than the plumber it's several of the colourful dinosaur Yoshis who must run and jump through the levels. It had all of the hallmarks of great Miyamoto design: ingenious level design, a perfect level of challenge, unique play mechanics (such as Yoshis ability to make eggs), classic music, and abundant heart. The original Yoshis Island for the SNES still ranks as one of the greatest games of all time. Well, thats what this Review will find out Im rating both on a one to five star basis, with five being groundbreakingly great and one being just awful. second-fiddle Luigi is among the missing.

The story is simple: An evil wizard is kidnapping babies, and the Mario Bros. A follow-up appeared on the DS in 2006, and this third game is exclusively for the 3DS. Yoshis Island DS was very disappointing to me. YOSHIS ISLAND DS is a follow-up to the beloved Super Nintendo game Yoshis Island from 1995.

An offshoot of the Mario series, the first Yoshi's Island game came out for the SNES in 1995.
